Agora me conte se você gostou dessas recomendações!
A book and a movie (versão inglês)
Summer is almost here!
More than ever, it means that it’s time to focus on yourself and your needs. Take some time off, go on vacation, rest, relax, learn a new hobby and, more importantly, catch up with your reading!
Today I’ve got a book and a movie recommendation for you.
Let’s start with the movie I care a lot, a comedy/thriller from 2020 starring Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage.
Pike (whom I love ever since I first saw her in 2005 Pride and Prejudice) plays Marla Grayson, a legal guardian who uses her position of taking care of the elderly to exploit them for their money and assets. She has built an elaborate network of professionals who profit from the scam: doctors, prosecutors and the director of the nursing home. One day, Marla finds the perfect victim to increase her wealth, an old lady with no family and a suspicious amount of money. But nothing is as it seems in that story and the legal guardian has to face some pretty badass people who see her for what she truly is: someone who cares a lot… about money.
Now, for the book recommendation (if you’ve known me for a while, you know where this is going), I present to you Hallucinations, my very own thriller which is available for purchase here and which carries a similar premise of that of the movie I mentioned. Also exploring the world of health care and greedy people, Hallucinations tells the story of Liv, a woman who finds herself in a mental institution with no recollection of how (and why) she got there. Switching from a state of euphoria, fear, apprehension and marvel, Liv cannot distinguish reality from the visions in her mind caused by… an accident? A mental illness? Her medicines? You’ll have to read more to find out!
Let me know if you liked these recommendations!
More later... In the meantime, you can check out my blog here.
Love,
